Lunch at the Lodge. The Masai Mara is connected to the Tanzanian Serengeti, and thus the migration routes for all the plains game pass between these two reserves. You should get to see a good number of Burchells Zebra, Wildebeest, Elephant; Thomson’s and grants gazelle, Impala, Kirks dick dick, Hartebeest, Topi, buffalo, Masai giraffe, Eland, Rhino, jackal and all the big cats. The Mara National reserve is a world of its own covering 1530 square kilometres.

If weather permits, we cross the Abadare range, climbing to over 10,000 feet, where some impressive waterfalls tumble into a spectacular high altitude forest, indispersed with bamboo forests, and high marsh vegetation.
We settle into Sangare or El Karama, which are small cottages, simple and rustic with all the comforts of home, and friendly hospitality. After a short rest, you safari in your own personalized 4 x 4 into the private reserve where research is done on some rare species such as Grevy Zebra, and to see the Rhino conservation programme which has been instituted now for seventy years, supported by contributions made by visitors. After a memorable afternoon, return to your lodge for dinner and the night.

At the end of the morning, a twenty minute flight to Nanuki where we refuel, and have a surprise lunch, in an original restaurant, which is built around a large fig tree, and where the speciality is fresh trout. In the course of the afternoon, we depart for Desert Rose, a beautiful 1hr 30 min flight, passing the eastern edge of the Great Rift Valley. We land at the southern end of Mt Nyiru, on the northern edge of the deserted Elbarta plateau, in a place well far from anywhere. Your first contact with the land of North Kenya is quite memorable 1 You are taken by 4 x 4 to the heart of the sacred Mt Nyiru, high up to a charmingly small Lodge…. ..Settle into your room. If you wish you can finish the day with sundowners on a nearby rock. Return for dinner, and overnight in Lodge.
Day 5
Awake gently with the dawn chorus of birds, with a cup of tea or coffee. After breakfast , we leave for a day of flying over the most sublime country. We drive back down to the plane, and take off for a fabulous flight to South Island, Lake Turkana. Along the South coast, the volcanoes of Naboyatum and Teleki, where the earth exposes her amazingly diverse beauty. The return flight from the lake is the most beautiful I have seen in Africa. For the final bouquet, you might feel great emotion as we overfly the surreal colours and birds of Lake Logipi, which lies at the lowest altitude in the Great Rift. (Also the hottest),retuning to the airfield of Desert Rose for return transfer to the Lodge. Aperitif as you cool off in the pool. Dinner and night at the lodge. Desert Rose is a dream, romantic and peaceful. A place to get in touch with your inner self and recharge your energy.
Day 6
This morning you can wake up when you please. ! For those who wish we can go for a walk after breakfast, or relax in the tranquil environment of the lodge. Later we return to the airstrip to find the plane which will take us on the last leg of our journey, a 2 hr 30 min flight back to Nairobi. Our wings will allow us to follow the edge of the Great Rift Valley, over the lunar landscape of the Suguta, climbing up over silali volcano, towards Lake Baringo, where we might stop if time permits. Over the alkaline Lake of Lake Bogoria, and Lake Nakuru, surrounded by a rim of pink flamingos. Over lake Naivasha, the spectacular volcanoes of Suswa and Longonot, before arriving at the Ngong Hills and Nairobi..
These visions of landscape and colour will fill your head with memories which will serve you well as you return to the crowded cities.
We return to the Aero Club for a farewell drink before your departure to the Jomo Kenyatta airport and your International flight (depending on departure time).
